Oh my god, 100% this. The pinnacle of the fury of the Pro Gaza mob was a message my young neighbour put on IG berating Matthew Perry for dying & knocking Gaza off the top news slot. I don't need to say anymore than that. Pleased you got away for the first anniversary. X

Thankyou for writing this Kathryn. Reassuring to hear a little reason and even handedness in a very one sided issue. One thing that is never considered is the percentage of population here, Israel is a tiny country with a population which equates to 1/34th of the American population. "That means that the reported death toll of more than 1,400 Israelis from Hamas terrorist attacks is proportional to about 48,300 Americans. The official U.S. count of Americans who died on Sept. 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center is 2,977." If you consider the response from the USA after 9/11, do people really think that Israel would sit on their hands? It is Israel that has a more egalitarian and equal society, they are the ones who have tried to live in peace, in a land they have been removed from many times in two thousand years. They have been refugees many times over, yet our press and mass of uninformed people see them as some kind of colonialist. Does this men that all the Muslim refugees in Europe and the Uk are colonialists? I would like to state that I am not Jewish, but I have visited Israel and Muslim countries. I am just reassured that someone has finally tried to put the other side of this atrocity.

I so agree. You are braver than me. I’ve kept these thoughts to myself, especially with family, and It troubles me that this is the case.

"I now describe the bereaved and newly-configured version of myself as ‘my own avatar’. I look like me, I sound like me, I can pass as me to anybody who knows me.... yet I am irrevocably different." Your description of what grief can do is so vivid. Love to you.
